// How we handle your data

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data LocIX collects, why we collect it, and the rights you have. We collect as little as we can. Last updated 30 May 2026.

1 Who we are

1

LOCIX LIMITED controls your personal data, registered at 85 Great Portland Street, First Floor, London, England, W1W 7LT.

1.1

LocIX is a non-profit Internet Exchange. We collect as little data as the service needs.

1.2

Email noc@locix.online with any privacy question or data request.

2 What we collect

2

Contact form. When you message us, we collect your name, email and message. We use them only to read and answer your request.

2.1

Server logs. Our web server records standard request data, including your IP address, the page you requested, your browser type and a timestamp. This keeps the site secure and working.

2.2

Member data. The members directory shows your ASN, network name and peering IP addresses. This comes from the public IX-F export that the IXP already publishes. It is already public data.

3 Analytics & cookies

3

Analytics. We use Plausible. It counts visits without cookies and without collecting personal data. It does not track you across sites and does not build a profile of you.

3.1

Cookies. The site sets no tracking cookies.

3.2

Local storage. We store one value in your browser, locix-theme. It remembers your dark or light choice. It stays on your device and never reaches our server.

4 Third parties

4

We share data with a small number of processors that run parts of the service.

4.1

Postmark delivers the email from the contact form. It receives the name, email and message you submit.

4.2

Cloudflare Turnstile blocks spam on the contact form. It receives your IP address and a challenge token to confirm you are human. It shows no tracking ads.

4.3

We never sell your data. We share it only to run the service or when the law requires it.

5 Your rights

5

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you can ask us to do any of the following.

  • show you the data we hold about you
  • correct data that is wrong
  • delete your data
  • limit or object to how we use it
  • send you a copy to move elsewhere
5.1

Email noc@locix.online to use any of these rights. We answer within the time the law sets.

5.2

You can complain to your data protection authority. In the UK this is the ICO. In the EU it is your national authority.

5.3

Legal basis. We process your contact data to answer you and run the exchange. We rely on our legitimate interest to keep the site secure and to count visits.

5.4

We keep your data only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, then we delete it.

6 General

6

We may update this policy. The current version always lives on this page.

6.1

This policy covers locix.online and the LocIX services. It does not cover other sites we link to.

6.2

Email noc@locix.online with any question about your privacy.
